Welcome to CIGRE Belgium

We are a non-profit association, recognised as the National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) in Belgium.

The World of CIGRE

CIGRE Belgium is firmly rooted in the global CIGRE community, composed of a network of 61 National Committees. The wide geographic spread, combined with a variety of established experts, experienced practitioners and young professionals, enables CIGRE to offer the most diverse range of power system perspectives and experiences available from any organisation.”

CIGRE Belgium

CIGRE Belgium aims to:

  • prepare and organize the representation of its members in the official organs, committees, working groups and conferences of the international CIGRE association.
  • further the interests of CIGRE in Belgium.
  • facilitate in Belgium the exchange of engineering knowledge and information, as regards production and transmission of electricity.

More specifically, issues related to the planning and operation of power systems, as well as the design, construction, maintenance and disposal of HV equipment and plants are at the core of CIGRE’s Mission.

Problems related to protection of electrical systems, to telecontrol and telecommunication equipment, are also part of CIGRE’s area of concern.
